I am an industrial designer based in Montreal, creating furniture, lighting and objects in which material comes before discourse.
Background
Born in France in 1992 and educated in Lille and Belgium, Amaury D'Hulst is pursuing a Master's in Design at UQAM focused on co-creation between designers and artificial intelligence. Today, he runs an independent Montreal studio spanning industrial design, furniture and public art.
Approach
Wood, marble, glass, metal—each material is chosen for what it reveals about the act of making. Every piece exists in two forms: a gallery version that tells its story and a shop version that can be acquired.
“My designs express a personal sensitivity that I seek to share through each object with its user.”
Design + AI
His Master's research at UQAM explores co-creation between designers and artificial intelligence—an area that continues to inform his practice today.
